Cannes, renowned for its annual film festival and luxury retail sector, is positioning itself as a pioneer in cryptocurrency adoption. Municipal authorities plan to have 90% of local merchants accepting digital asset payments by summer 2025—a move that would establish the Azure City as France’s de facto crypto payments capital.

Mayor David Lisnard has initiated comprehensive training programs for business owners, accelerating commercial readiness for the transition. This development places Cannes alongside Toulouse, where cryptocurrency payments are already operational for public transportation services.
